Hot Summer CPR

Hot Summer CPR emergencies can strike when you least expect. This 2017 Sacramento Summer is baking The Valley, as it does every year, and these extreme heat conditions can make emergencies more likely. The heat can be dangerous for people with preexisting health conditions and can also cause Sunburn and Dehydration, or even Heat Stroke, in the unprotected. Be smart and take preparation for fun in the Sun, but also be ready with Life Saving CPR Training in case of Summer Sudden Cardiac Arrest!

First tip is to try to prevent the need for Hot Summer CPR by preparing for time in the Sun. We love our time in the Sun. But too much Sun can cause Sunburn. Sunburns are certainly uncomfortable in the short term but they can potentially lead to more serious health complications later. The answer is protection. Wear Sunscreen with a high SPF rating, SPF15 – SPF30 minimum, on all skin exposed to the Sun. Wear protective clothing for non-exposed areas such as dark colored tightly woven materials or SPF synthetics. It’s important to note that light colored loose clothing, like cotton shirts, are not very protective against sun exposure. Always wear a hat when possible. Sunglasses with UV protection are also a good recommendation. Dehydration is another common Summer Emergency; prevent it by drinking plenty of water and taking frequent breaks.hot summer cpr 2
